Just a short one tonight friends...

My computer crashed. Or rather it picked up a virus (yeah apparently I did not have any sort of anti-spy ware on my computer...sigh). I'm taking the tower in tomorrow so hopefully they will get it fixed fast.

Until then, my friend Nina, has been kind enough to let me blog and check email from her house and working computer.

I didn't mean to be gone from blogging so long (though no one has asked about me...sniff sniff) but life sort of creeps up on ya you know? So, I hope you guys are all doing well. I hope to be back to regular blogging soon. I've got a major milestone in the blogging realm coming up too...400 posts. Who would have thought I'd have had that much to say?!

Technologically...Challenged

Either I was a very good girl this year or Santa just went overboard. I have a feeling that it was the latter! Anyway, I raked in the goodies. (Yes, I know Christmas isn't about the presents, but rather spending time with family and loved ones. And our family had a lot of prayers answered the last few days so I have a very thankful heart and enjoyed the time of resting and relaxation! But for the purposes of this post, I'm going to focus on the goodies part...forgive me.)

Now, I'm sure this doesn't come as a surprise to many, but I'm challenged in many areas. One of the biggest happens to be in the area of technology. Yes, I admit it. I'm technologically challenged. I enjoy the places I can go and the things I can do with technology, but I do not understand it for anything.

During the last few days before school let out, my kids were asking me what I'd be asking Santa for in the way of presents. I admitted that I really wanted an MP3 player. One of my darlings announced, rather loudly, that he already had an MP3 player. I'm sure he knows how to work it and all too. Anyway, I wanted one and I planted enough seeds in Santa's mind to know that this would most likely be among the presents under the tree. You know, asking for something you want and then knowing what to do with it when you get it are two totally different things.

Yes, I got an MP3 player. No, I didn't know what to do next with it. I carefully read the instructions that came with it, but they were very limited. I'm sure that the instructions writer assumed that I would probably know how to download music from the Internet to my computer so he would only need to tell me how to get it from my computer to this device. Oh, he needs to talk to my Papa about assuming. (My Papa taught me the valuable lesson about what assuming does for you...) Well, I was already confused and I hadn't even touched the computer. My mom (which bless her has more patience than I, but knows just about as much as I do when it comes to this MP3 stuff) said that she would help me.

Trying to get as much information as I possibly could, I called a friend for some pre-attempt advice. I'd heard a lot about itunes and assumed (maybe I should have listened to that advice a little harder too) that it would be what I'd need. Let me say right here that I did not get an ipod. Also, let me say that if you own something other than ipod you can not download music to it from itunes. And if you can, please don't enlighten me as my brain can only hold so much information and that just might send it into brain failure!

Anyway, after several hours of impatient huffs and resisting the urge to toss my new MP3 player out of the window I believe I have the downloading of music part down. Thank God! I'm now sort of up-to-date with the rest of society! If you've got a favorite song please leave me a comment. I'm in the market for songs these days!

Miss Me? (Updated)

****Hey everyone! Now I'm logged in at the public library...still no computer but I'm going home next Monday so I'll be back plugged in! Thankfully for you I've been keeping little notes for future posts...watch out I'm about to become wordy!

The garage sale went great! I didn't have much stuff so I was pleased to get $200 while my parents did great...they raked in close to $1000. Nothing was priced over $10...tell you how much crap we had?! It's gone now and I'm glad!

Well, not much to report. Like I said I'll be back to my home computer next Monday. I miss all my blogger friends and hope you're well! ****

I miss you!

This is going to be very quick because I'm at a coffee house because my mom's computer has crashed. Well, I assume that happens when you run an obsolete operating system (read Windows 98). Anyway, the computer guy (who happened to be super hot...not geek squad material at all!) is supposed to have it back in our house working next Tuesday. I simply couldn't wait that long!

In and among the crashed computer, we're getting ready for a big garage sale. When I say big I mean the ad in the paper was 100+ words. We have a lot of crap! Hopefully, I can pull out a couple hundred dollars to use on my upcoming cruise trip.

Also, before I forget...Mary THANK YOU so much for nominating me for the cool blogger award! I can't wait to pass it on to some of my favorite bloggers!

Okay, fellow bloggers, this seems to be the only working computer in Java City and the line is getting long so I'd better wrap this up. Y'all keep my blog company until I can get back to lavishing attention on it okay?!

Back In My Groove...Sorta

I wish I could say that this post was being typed at my computer, but alas this is not the case. I thought I might have lost some of the pleasure I take from updating my blog, but you'll be relieved to know that it is still here. There are so many things to say and updates to give. Forgive me, but you know how much I adore a good list.

First, I owe some thank-yous. Mike, thank you for keeping my blog company while I was (well...am still) away. It sounds like you've kept the masses (and my mother) highly entertained. And thankfully my reputation is still in good shape! Seriously, I know you've probably got a lot better things to do than baby-sit my blog. I do appreciate it. Everyone who left birthday wishes, thank you for the well wishes. I rang in my quarter centuryness in high fashion. I got to spend time with my parents, eat my mom's fabulous strawberry cake, shop, get gifts, and love all over one incorporative kitty. It was wonderful! It's too bad birthdays only come once a year. Perhaps this year I'll take my good friend D's advice and start celebrating my half birthday too. And finally to my mom, thanks for having a sense of humor and not rolling your eyes and saying my name in that way that means how could you find something like this amusing when you read my blog!

Second, are you dying to know about the computer situation? Well, after finally finding the time to take my computer to the repair guy (its harder than you think considering we have the same working hours) I decided to just invest a few bucks (and by that I mean a moderate sum of bucks) now and continue to save for the laptop. Anyway, I have my new computer at home and set up. I have to again make time to be home when the cable company can be there to come and reinstall or whatever it is they do to my computer so that my internet...and my connection to you lovely people...is restored. Hopefully that will happen by this weekend!

Third, remember that Halloween party I mentioned I was going to throw? Well, it is this Saturday. So far only three people have RSVPed...I'm hoping that more will come. I've picked out an adorable purple and black witch's hat and a purple feather boa to wear. Won't I just be the witchest thing around? I'll try to post some pictures...assuming that I can load the software on my computer without crashing it this time.

Fourth, there are some interesting conversations that take place in the comments box. Y'all do go back and re-read those don't you? Those of you with tracker devices on your blog...I promise I'm not stalking (except for a certain blogger...him I'm trying to catch with his pants down...just kidding!) but I like to see how the writer responds to comments. I try to reply to most comments with some witty zinger. Sometimes I fail in the witty department, but nonetheless there are some interesting "conversations" that take place in the comment box. For example, those of you who haven't read the previous post's comments since you posted should check out the exchange between my mom and Mike. I found it highly entertaining. (And by the way Mom...yes you are a ton of fun! But since this is my blog, let's only talk about my pajamas okay? :op That eye rolling thing I mentioned before...it's happening now...LOL)

Fifth, I know this is a serious note to toss in with the rest of this gibberish, but Sunday my great grandmother passed away. (My other great grandmother passed away at the end of August. I didn't blog about it because I had conflicting feelings and it was a little raw to talk about.) Today was the funeral. It was hard. What else is there to say? I read somewhere that just because a death is anticipated and the grieving process might start before the death doesn't ease the pain of losing a loved one. My heart is sad tonight...for so many people, for so many reasons. I'd ask for those of you that are the praying sort to please send up a prayer for my family as we go about the going on.

If you've read to this point, thanks. I know it was long, but you held out until the end. What a trooper! Hopefully, the next post will come from my own computer and my own internet.

Would you do me a favor? I'd owe you one.

My computer has crashed and I'm at the point of deciding whether to invest in it's repair or to go ahead and bite the extremely large bullet and get a new laptop. Anyway, while I'm waiting I'm afraid that my blog will waste away without proper attention. I didn't even get to prepare my couple of blog friends about this probably a few weeks long absense. Would you please post a little something on there about a crashed computer and a befuddled poster? I've given you my password and access before so I'm fairly comfortable with you doing this. If you got time and the want to I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Okay folks, our poor lil steffy is going to be out of the blogging loop for a bit.

I didn't add the entire content of her email to me though because I'm probably not supposed to share what she owes me for this. I'm sure it has something to do the pajamas though.

Well....ok....that's probably not true.

I left out her user name and password though. I'm thoughtful like that.

So hopefully she gets this worked out and can get to blogging soon. I'd hate to do a hostile takeover of her blog and subject you to the nonsense I post on a daily basis. And I'd probably sully her reputation...oh the horror!!
